Linda Johnson Studio

About

My Dear Customers,

I am launching Little Ornament Co. in 2023! I am so excited to offer my handmade ornaments on their very own site! Under a very different structure than I run Linda Johnson Studio. With the same handmade love and quality all in one place!

Linda

About:

Linda Johnson Studio creates heirloom quality pottery for the home featuring tiny details, subtle textures and heartwarming illustrations - all handmade one piece at a time. Driven by function, each piece is thoughtfully crafted using traditional potting methods. Each mug, bowl, vase, planter, lamp and teapot are crafted using a durable white stoneware and are food, dishwasher and microwave safe. Handmade for everyday enjoyment! The Maker

Linda Johnson's interest in clay began while earning her BFA in Sculpture from Tyler School of Art. The medium's versatility and process intrigued her. However, it was not until after graduating that Linda found her passion for the medium. Inspired while working for a lovely couple in their handmade tile studio. Linda knew a career in clay was her calling. She then began to take classes and workshops to hone her skills. She set up a home pottery studio and launched Little Flower Designs in 2004. In 2006 Linda said goodbye to her day job as a Facilities Manager at Morgan Stanley and has not looked back since. Linda's wares have been featured in numerous publications and online media, most notably, Daily Candy, Design Sponge, VenusZine, Lucky, Philadelphia Home, New York Times, Chicago Tribune and on the TV show "That's Clever". Linda's wares are available at galleries and boutiques across the USA as well as right here on her website. The Wares

Linda uniquely blends simple forms with bold surface design to create her handmade dinnerware and home accessories. Linda has a strong commitment to the integrity of her handmade wares. She believes that handmade items tread lighter on the environment and when made with great care, can provide the user a lifetime of satisfaction and joy. All pieces are hand formed from a creamy white stoneware, using both wheel thrown and handbuilding methods. Once leather hard, Linda carves and incises her unique designs into each individual piece. The colored glazes are applied using brushwork and slip trailing techniques then coated with Linda's durable clear overcoat glaze. All wares go through 2 kiln firings before they are ready for their new homes. All wares are microwave, dishwasher and food safe.
